The Jura Peaks Challenge is an all women adventure that goes beyond bagging summits. It's a commitment to making time for exploring the mountains on foot; a commitment to supporting the women on this journey; a commitment to being active outdoors no matter what.
THE CHALLENGE
7 treks to ascend the highest peaks of the Jura mountain chain across Switzerland and France. The challenge kicks off in September and goes on through June so challengers experience the Jura mountains through the changing seasons, hiking and snowshoeing to the summits. The challenge takes places only once a year and is limited to 10 participants.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Nature loving women from all walks of life who are looking to feed and grow their passion for an active life in our mountains. Women who can sustain a full day, 8-hour trek (on average, this represents 6 hours of hiking or snowshoeing), done in a supportive and positive atmosphere but resolute nonetheless. Women who are excited to discover what can be experienced along this journey. Must be at least 18 years old.
WHAT IS NEEDED TO TAKE PART?
An open mind, a sense of humour and a little determination.
The basic trekking material needed is:
* backpack
* water proof windbreaker
* sturdy hiking boots
* walking poles
* snowshoes (we can help you with the rental of these if you don't own your own)

This is not an exhaustive list. You'll receive that once your sign up is confirmed.

"The JPC is more than a trekking adventure. It's a commitment from me to help you get out there consistently, to unplug from the chaos of daily life, and recharge through movement and nature. It's also a community you're welcomed into with likeminded women that have your back. "

A FEW TESTIMONIALS FROM PAST CHALLENGERS
"The JPC is a fabulous outdoor adventure for anyone wanting to discover the Jura mountains and hike. The highlights for me, besides simply completing the challenge, were having the very valuable and informative input of a wonderful local guide, the amazingly delicious lunches & snacks and Charlaine's boundless positive energy. She kept us going at all times and was a master at ensuring that every outing ran seamlessly. I admired her ability to provide such an amazing experience to us all whilst being incredibly attentive to our own personal preferences and needs. It was a wonderful adventure!"
"I personally wanted a physical challenge after having 2 children and feeling like I didn't know physically what I was capable of. This was perfect for me, it pushed me and motivated me to do more. The sense of personal achievement mixed with learning more about the Jura and being with a group of great ladies was brilliant. I would love to do it every year!"
"A challenge certainly but I felt supported in every hike! There were plenty of rests and opportunities to chat. I loved the views, the company and the fabulous lunches and tasty snacks. A fabulous way to get to know the Jura better and to exercise with a group of supportive women. Highly recommend!"

FREQUENTLY ASKS QUESTIONS
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE ALL THE DATES?
A big part of the experience is the community that's created during our adventures. Having all the participants committed to taking part as much as possible is key to our community building. That being said, you may have a prior commitment that clashes with the trek dates. If you already know that you can't join us for more than one date it's probably best to join us for the following edition.
If I know I can't make a date, will you give me a discount?
Unfortunately we can't as we won't sell your spot to a one-off participant to cover the running costs of the outing.
WHAT  HAPPENS IF I GET ILL oR INJURED. WILL I BE REIMBURSED FOR THE OUTINGS I DON'T TAKE PART IN?
If you can provide us with a medical certificate stating that you cannot take part in one of the outings, we will reimburse you the part of the costs that are impacted by individual participation (for example food or accommodation).
IF I DROP OUT, CAN SOMEONE ELSE TAKE MY SPOT?
If we haven't yet started the treks, we will be in touch with the women on our waitlist to try and help you find a replacement. If a replacement is found we will reimburse you in full.
I DON'T HAVE A CAR. CAN I REACH THE TREKS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?
Not all of our trek starting points are easily accessible by public transportation. However, we do encourage carpooling amongst the group and try to offer a pick up near a public transportation whenever possible.
I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY RESTRICTIONS. DO YOU ACCOMMODATE THIS?
Yes we are able to cater to most dietary restrictions. However, in the case of severe allergies we may not be able to but we will try and find a solution that's suitable for you.
is the jura peaks challenge only for anglophones?
The JPC is open to women off all nationalities, all races and all languages. We use English as this is usually the language we all have in common. But honestly, we do tend to mix it up with French, English and more!
WHAT GEAR DO I NEED?
The basic gear you'll need is a backpack, hiking boots, trekking poles and protective outerwear. Participants will receive a complete gear list for hiking, snowshoeing and for our overnight treks.
